“FractorMeta_09″ Just a few words
I know we all just left metaplace, but I wanted to just write down my thoughts about our meeting now while they are fresh in our minds. I found this to be a really effective use of all of our time. It took about a half an hour to do what would have taken days if we were just using posts or even e-mails. Everyone was really talkative, and the fact that you could see whose mouths all of the conversations were coming from made it pretty easy to follow. Im really looking forward to exploring what else we can do within metaplace.

Hi guys…
As we discussed, I created a Metaplace account for our World:
Username: fractor
I didn’t realize this when I created the account, but the username appears on the World’s sign when people enter as it’s entered. I spelled the username in lower case, so the sign reads: fractor’s World. Is there a way to change this? Or is this not a big deal and I’m a bit too detail crazy?

I found the first meeting very helpful to start interacting with each other and having us all in one place to talk virtually in real time was ideal. I am looking forward to our next meeting tonight to start working on more ideas about the fractor world and what we found in other worlds and what already lives virtually on the internet.

So, as a brief recap our portals are as follows:
1) library – education issues
2) cafeteria – issues of starvation and food crises
3) bike shop – energy issues
4) nurse’s office – health issues
5) newstand (with weather center) – natural disasters/current events/misc. social issues

That is great. I am sorry that I can not participate in the real-time conversation and everything. I hope that I am not left out. I have been logging into our world fractor on metaplace but I end up in a courtyard with walls all round it. I can not figure out how to go beyond that space. Can somebody help me please?

Hi Ozan,
Try minimizing Fractor’s World (lower right-hand corner on the screen) so that you can see the search bar at the top. If you type in another world or person’s name there, you will have the option to go to that world. We will eventually work on creating portals to our other worlds, but we’re not there yet.

I spent a while in the World last night and made some edits… I took out to pictures of the bench(s) and replaced them with the actual objects. You can purchase objects with coins in the Metaplace store, so it’s kinda cool at add the objects themselves when available. I also added a sandbox type thing and took out those walls and planted some trees and increased the elevation of the sides to get a border of sorts. Also, I changed the background to a blue/clouds sky, which I think looks nice. Tell me what you think and feel free to make any additional changes. It’s looking good!
